Om Namah Shivaya
Original Painting by Michael Tulsea Moon

This painting was born in Nelson BC Canada while I closed a very special chapter in life, planting trees.
it was a devotional journey into the sacred masculine through the spirit of Shiva.

As I painted Shiva, I found myself reflecting deeply on the kind of man I wish to become — a man devoted to love, presence, truth, and service to life itself. A masculine force rooted in reverence for the sacred feminine in all her shapes and forms: the mother, the lover, the sister, the daughter, the earth, the waters, the mystery, the wildness, the tenderness, and the divine intelligence moving through all creation.

In many stories, Shiva is known as the great yogi, the cosmic dancer, the keeper of stillness within transformation. But what touched me most was his devotion. His willingness to bow before the feminine, to love her fully through every season and emotion — joy, grief, anger, ecstasy, chaos, softness, and creation itself.

While painting this piece, I found myself slowly softening into those teachings more and more.
Learning that devotion is its own kind of strength.
Learning that presence can heal.
Learning that love asks us to grow beyond ourselves.

The psychedelic currents flowing through the piece reflect the dissolving of separation and the remembrance that love expands beyond the self. That true masculine energy is not centered around ego, but around becoming a steady radiant force that gives, protects, uplifts, and holds presence through all tides of life.

At the center rests the Shiva Lingam, an ancient symbol of creation, union, consciousness, and divine life force energy. Around it flows a field of vibrant transformational currents — the dance between spirit and matter, devotion and embodiment, masculine and feminine polarity.

At the base of the painting glows the all-seeing third eye presence — a beam of consciousness representing the witnessing force of life itself, the intelligence of Earth and Pachamama, the awareness that sees beyond illusion and watches over all things. Under black light, this energy begins to radiate and awaken in a completely different way.

In Shiva’s right hand rests the axe, symbolizing the cutting of ignorance, illusion, and energetic ties that no longer serve the heart. Painting that portion felt deeply transformative for me. In his left hand blooms the lotus flower, representing devotion to the sacred feminine in all her beauty, emotion, wisdom, and forms of expression.

Above Shiva rests the moon temple, and above that the Shiva Lingam ascending upward into the celestial realms. Hidden within the glowing golden light near the star are two angelic beings — a pregnant angel held lovingly by a larger angel above. Not everyone notices them at first, but they quietly live inside the painting as a blessing of protection, creation, and guidance. The dragons surrounding Shiva represent the many faces and forces of existence, destruction and creation, shadow and light, all woven together within consciousness itself.

This piece was created with both natural and black light illumination in mind, revealing hidden dimensions and glowing energetic layers that emerge vividly under UV light. Like consciousness itself, the painting shifts and reveals deeper worlds depending on how it is seen.

Every layer of this painting carried intention.
Every brushstroke taught me something about devotion, prayer, family, love, and becoming.

In many ways, the painting painted me back on my journey to fatherhood and being a man in devotion to prayer, family and community.

Blessings to all who lay eyes on this creation.
